About Kadena Special Olympics
Kadena Special Olympics (KSO) was established in 2000 as a venue to build relations with neighboring communities and local government representatives while providing a meaningful activity for special needs children and adults. The event is hosted by the Friends of Kadena Special Olympics, a private organization. We are excited to restart the program after a six year hiatus and welcome your support for this event. This year's event will be held on 9 December 2023 starting at 0930 on Kadena Air Base at the Risner Sports Complex. The event is open to anyone with base access. Volunteers
Volunteers are a critical part of making Kadena Special Olympics a great event. Our gameday volunteer opportunities are full but you can still come out to cheer on the athletes as they arrive on gameday 0730-0930, at the opening ceremony (0930), as they receive medals and ribbons throughout the day, or at the closing ceremony (1300). We welcome attendees to dress in child appropriate superhero, fairy tale, or related costumes
